Awired.net is an open source community composed of IT engineers and professionnals. We now have a place for our projects and idees that we want to develop together.

Awired is repo1 powered

Java libraries are now-days often stored in Maven repositories. But if you want other projects to use your libs without having to add your repository, you have to put your libs in the central repository of Maven (called repo1) configured in maven as the default repository.

Awired.net is now repo1 powered and all libs will be pushed in the central maven repository (search.maven). The access to the repo1 is done through a sync of Sonatype's repositories with the central. For snapshot artifacts, they are stored in Sonatype's snapshot repo : https://oss.sonatype.org/content/repositories/snapshots.

Awired historical repository will be shut done soon until we need to store libs that will not be pushed to the central.

what are we doing ?

this is a repost as the server time was in the futur the first time

Long time no write something here, but we are still working hard. To keep you following what we are doing, this is what we are working on :

Servers

we have expected difficulties with servers for a long time now with Xen and hard drive crypt but it will be soon over. You can follow the tutorial that we are writing all along the installation we are doing for Awired servers here.

Gentoo client

We are working on a lightweight Gentoo client installation tutorial that you will found soon on hive.

Development environment

An essential part of our development environment is now up and running, it's composed of :

  • a maven repository called Nexus that you can found here. It will host release and maven dependency during development
  • a continuous integration system called Hudson that you can found here. It will test compilation of project in a non development environment and will build release
  • a quality code report called Sonar that you can found here. we will follow it to keep our code clean and clear

Git repository

we are currently working on a git repository system as its a better solution than svn for a wide open source development

Licenses

We chose licences for our already started projects

  • asearch - agpl3
  • ajsl - asl2
  • parent - asl2
  • hive - CC-by-nc-sa

  • Finish websites design
  • Work follow throw issue tracking
  • Deployment of projects websites
  • Awired maven site plugin skin for projects
  • Choose bugtracking system and integrate it to development environment
  • Ldap integreation of differnet systems
  • Auto integration of licenses to source code
  • Feed hive main page
  • Feed awired.net pages
  • Visual svn

Visuwall support main CI softwares :

  • Jenkins
  • Hudson
  • Sonar
  • Bamboo
  • Teamcity

The project is currently in version 0.2 and lots of new features will come by the end of the year.

you can find the project home page here and a demo version here

New server upgrade

After a couple of month with an unstable server, we decided to change the virtualisation technologie from XEN to KVM. It seems the main problem come from that XEN does not like hard drive encryption (I will write an article on that on n0rad.fr one day). Now running KVM we don't have any problems.

The server had also a little memory increase from 6Gb to 12Gb, mainly because hudson, sonar and jira take a lot of memory and the main VM had not enough memory for all that.

Some of the projects are already functionnal in the environment and the support will be increase little by little.

Main server upgrade

The main server was not working yesterday because of an host os upgrade. Awired server is now running on :

  • Gentoo 64 bit
  • as a Xen 4 paravirtualized guest
  • Full AES hard drives encryption
  • RAID1 on 3 drives
  • 750G x 2 Hard drives for backups

The server is now running in a NORCO RPC-4020 4U rackmount server case.

The second server is still not in production but we are working on it.
